First Inaugural Address

January 20, 1981

Our featured video for this month is President Reagan's first Inaugural Address. Reagan was facing a challenging time, our nation's citizens held hostage in Iran and a lagging economy. He represented a new, modern conservatism and he chose to honor that spirit by, for the first time, giving an Inaugural Address from the west side of the Capitol Building.
